About TargetCLB

Who makes TargetCLB, how the practice material is made and checked, what your scores mean, and how to get help.

Who runs TargetCLB

TargetCLB is built and run by Dicken Christian, an independent developer in India, with help from a small team of CELPIP tutors on the practice material.

TargetCLB is not affiliated with or endorsed by Paragon Testing Enterprises, which owns CELPIP. Our tests are practice material, not official CELPIP tests.

How tests are made

All practice material is original and follows the published CELPIP-General format. We use AI tools to help draft tests and create audio and pictures, and every test is checked by people before it's published. If you spot a mistake, email support@targetclb.com.

How scores work

Listening and Reading

Your score is the number of questions you answer correctly. We convert it to a CELPIP level with the approximate score chart that CELPIP publishes with its results. The chart's bands overlap, so when your score falls in two bands, we show both, for example 7–8.

Writing and Speaking

TargetCLB AI reviews your response against the four criteria CELPIP uses to rate it: Content and Coherence, Vocabulary, Readability (Listenability for Speaking) and Task Fulfillment. It uses CELPIP's published descriptions of each level as its reference. You get an estimated level for each criterion, what worked, what to change and, for Writing, part of your response rewritten. For Speaking, it works from your recording and shows a transcript of what it heard.

TargetCLB AI runs on AI models from contracted providers. The review is automatic: no person reads your response before the feedback appears. Speaking recordings are deleted once they are scored, or within 24 hours if scoring does not complete. The transcript and feedback stay with your results.

What the scores mean

Every score on TargetCLB is a practice estimate. It is not an official CELPIP result and does not predict your test-day score. AI can misjudge a response. Use the feedback to decide what to practise next, and look at your results across several tests rather than a single score.
